a history major in college, billy developed a strong passion for non-fiction story telling and in 2007 moved to new york to expand his career as a documentary cameraman. his ability to craft beautiful verite later translated into a unique approach toward commercial filmmaking. collaboration is key and Peña takes pride in a strong work ethic, creative clarity and inspiring a relaxed shooting environment.
his most recent commercial work includes spots for garmin, grubhub and the philadelphia 76ers. He also recently wrapped up a 2016 olympic athlete campaign for wieden + kennedy. his work on "kehinde wiley : an economy of grace" won best documentary short at the 2014 sxsw film festival and was short listed for an academy award. his most recent feature documentary, "bright Lights," just premiered at cannes and will air on hbo in 2017. the film features the complex relationship between carrie fisher and her iconic mother, debbie reynolds.
